Hi, how can we help you?

Installation Guide

The following are instructions to get up and running with Compare.

  1. Compare requires the Microsoft .NET framework to be installed on your machine (version 6.0 or later). If you do not already have this framework installed, please visit Microsoft’s dot net download site and follow the instructions to install the latest version.

  2. If you have not yet downloaded Compare or if you need to download it again, please use the link on the Compare website to ensure you download the latest version. This download includes the Compare application setup file.

  3. Once the file has been downloaded, double-click on the setup file: Compare-Setup-v1.x.x.exe. This will complete the installation.

To help you get familiar with Compare, you may download two sample .CSV files at the bottom of this article. These two files have the same file structure, but different data in certain fields.

Compare is a secure application with a Microsoft-certified code signing certificate from Sectigo. On rare occasions, you may receive a security pop-up when initially running Compare. This occurs when Controlled Folder Access is enabled in Windows Defender for Windows 10 or 11 users.

To resolve this, you'll need to add Compare and its associated applications to the list of allowed applications in the Controlled Folder Access feature.

In the Windows Start menu, open Windows Defender Security Center.

Click Virus & threat protection.

Add the apps on the list that were blocked after you ran Compare for the first time. There will be three applications associated with Compare.

Sometimes Excel.exe is also blocked by this security feature. If that’s the case, add it as well.
